In all the game series, the protagonist Sonic the hedgehog is assisted with a host of other characters. Sonic also has a look alike who goes by the name of Metal Sonic and he helps to cover Sonic in his absence. While Sega was busy counting profits from Sonic, they also cashed in on his celebritydom. This was made possible by Sonics cameo appearance in various other Sega game series such as Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg, Phantasy Star Universe, and the remake of Samba De Amigo. Other publishers have also used Sonic the Hedgehog repeatedly.
